All-Fill packaging machines continue to stand as the one and only industry leader, with a focus on future designs and advancing technology.

All-Fill Inc. Founder & Originator, Chairman Richard Edginton

December 14th, 2021

Richard Edginton, often referred to as "Dick", established the All-Fill company in 1969 and Auger Fabrication in 1984. Dick originated a company that continues to be a leader within the packaging industry. He retired in 1997, becoming All-Fill's Chairman to this day.

HOW IT STARTED

Dick was employed as a Manufacturing Manager at Diehl Mateer Company during the early months of 1969. By the middle of the calendar year DMC was sold to The Berwind Company. Dick was uncertain about the future of the business after DMC was acquired by Berwind Company, and after a few disagreements with what would soon be his former boss, he decided to branch off and start his own business. With the opportunity to do it his way at the forefront of his decision, Dick founded All-Fill Inc. located in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. He recruited six full-time employees from his DMC days by promising better opportunities and higher wages.

“They saw something in my grandfather and trusted him to make the right decisions in building the company,” said Ryan Edginton, All-Fill's President/CEO. “My grandfather would always get everyone around him what they needed to be successful before himself. It was always them before him. My grandfather had resolve. I was told stories about my grandfather taking a very basic auger filler, throwing it in the back of a station wagon, and driving up and down the East Coast trying to sell it. That’s how business was conducted back then. You took the machine to the customer, demoed it, and hopefully walked away with a check.” Ryan explained.

After Dick's retirement, his son, Glenn Edginton, took on the leadership of continuing to grow the companies and their culture. At the beginning of Glenn’s tenure, All-Fill was a young and growing company, a manufacturer of only Semi-Automatic and Automatic Auger Filling machines. Today it is much more than that. Glenn grew All-Fill's packaging line to include a range of Checkweighers, Vibratory Fillers, Cup Fillers as well as a distinct niche in the marketplace for custom packaging designs. In 2012, All-Fill acquired Vertical Form Fill and Seal Bagging machines from Taylor Products in Kansas City, Missouri. Which are today, known as our Vertical Form Fill and Seal Bagging Division.

This acquisition marked an important step in the vertical integration of All-Fill's offerings. Glenn expressed, “This acquisition brings a new level of service to our filling, feeding, and checkweighing customers. VFFS users can expect the same high level of customer commitment for the design, manufacturing, servicing, and satisfaction as users of our other equipment.” Glenn had a huge impact, he built relationships with OEM's that were long lasting and real. In 2014, Glenn retired and became All-Fill's Vice Chairman, under his father, Dick.

                          Third Generation of Edgintons

Today, All-Fill is operating under the third generation of Edgintons. Glenn's three sons (Ryan, President/CEO of All-Fill Inc. & Auger Fabrication, Kyle, Vice President of All-Fill, and Eric, Vice President of Auger Fabrication) and Dick's daughter, Lynn's son (Chris Trabbold, Vice President of All-Fill West). They all grew up around the business, working in each department to learn the ins and outs of how the company works. Not only do we include our filling machines, checkweighers, and vertical form fill and seal baggers but also have introduced three types of equipment under acquisitions: labelers, bottle unscramblers, and cappers. We now offer a turnkey packaging line allowing our customers to make one stop shop for all their packaging needs. To better service our expanding customer base on the West coast, All-Fill opened a new facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, All-Fill West

“All-Fill has always been in our blood. As kids, we were always hanging around the business, sweeping floors, riding carts, or pushing hand trucks. We didn’t know anything about the company, but we knew how dedicated our grandfather was, how much street smarts he had.”

CEO & President of All-Fill Inc.

                       ALL-FILL & AUGER FABRICATION FAMILY

“We’re a family company, and seeing my grandfather lets our workers see the relationship between the first and third generation. They see that we keep his values at the forefront, and they enjoy showing him what they’re working on. Plus, I have more fun with that guy at 93 than with most anyone else."

- Ryan Edginton,
CEO & President of All-Fill Inc.

Although Dick has retired, that has not stopped him from his weekly visits to All-Fill's headquarters in Exton, PA. All-Fill Inc. is Dick's home and he enjoys making the commute every Wednesday. Always armed with donuts and bagels for our employees, he considers family. A lot of our employees in Exton have worked here since they were hired by Dick and look forward to his weekly visits and sharing memories of the beginnings of a lifetime. Dick mostly enjoys collaborating with his grandsons on current and future projects and listening to the ins and outs of whats happening throughout the building. He has truly watched the company grow into what it is today. From a company that was simply known for auger filling machinery to a complete packaging line including filling and checkweighing equipment, bagging machines, labeling systems, bottle unscramblers, and capping machines.

Today, All-Fill Inc. consists of a 65,000 square foot building located at 418 Creamery Way in Exton, PA as well as All-Fill West, an 8,000 square foot facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Don't forget about our sister company, Auger Fabrication that has also expanded their operations of auger tooling and accessories into a 35,000 square foot facility located at 4102 Edges Mill Rd. Downingtown, PA
