FILLING MACHINE BUYING GUIDE

Is your company faced with the tall task of installing an automatic filling machine or a semi-automatic filling machine?  If so, All-Fill is here to help.  We have created a template for end users and OEM partners alike as they seek to organize their next project.  Whether or not your application requires the use of an auger filler, vibratory filler, cup filler or piston filler, please use the content below to your advantage.  In addition, always contact All-Fill with any questions you may have, we will put you in touch with a regional salesperson immediately and he will be your point of contact from the point of initial contact all the way to after market support.

-Identify each container that you would like to have filled, and then associate each product that you would like to fill into each container/bottle/bag/box etc… 

-All-Fill always provides 100% free laboratory testing, it is highly recommended that you send in every product and sample container to All-Fill’s full-time lab technician for evaluation. 

-All-Fill recommends labeling the target weight on every container and creating an organized product matrix that will show every production run goal.  The product matrix should contain the product to be filled, the container and its dimension -most notably opening size, the production rate in terms of CPM (containers per minute), and the accuracy that you would like to see the filling machine hold.

-Upon receipt of samples and containers, All-Fill will provide a laboratory test sheet that provides great detail on how we are going to approach your project.  The objective of lab testing is to ensure that there are no surprises during the machine checkout phase.  We want our customers to feel confident that we can handle their application prior to committing to a machine purchase. 

-The All-Fill lab technician will then relay the results of the lab test to the regional salesperson dedicated to your account.  As a result of the lab testing, each product will be associated with the proper filling machine.  For most powders, granules and dry products an auger filler will most likely be recommended.  Liquids, pastes and creams are most often handled using a piston filler (piston filling machine).  Candy, snacks, hardware and fresh/frozen foods typically require a vibratory filling machine and lastly seeds, popcorn, rice and beans fall into the category of cup fillers.  With auger fillers and auger filling machines, the lab technician’s main responsibility is to determine the proper “tooling” or “filling accessories.” 

-Create a flow chart that details the different stages of production for your application.  Common packaging line machinery is product in-feed systems such as screw feeders, vacuum conveyors, unscrambling tables, labelers, cappers/lidders, date coders, checkweighers, Vibratory Form Fill and Seal (VFFS), or bagging machines and accumulating tables.

-Once a production line flow chart has been created, it is a good idea to establish what utilities will be required for each piece of machinery.  Ask All-Fill, we will provide you with electrical and pneumatic requirements to ensure that your facility will be prepared for installation of the machinery.   Also, list any possible obstructions that may restrict the appropriate machinery for your application.

-Often times filling machines outperform other aspects of your production line.  Identify the slowest machine in the production line so that all supplies are on the same page in regards to the required packaging rate.

-Depending on your application, make All-Fill aware of any special raw material construction.  Do you require machinery that needs to be washed down?  Do you have a 3A Dairy application?  Is it important to have the parts that come in contact with the product made of a special construction?

-Once you have addressed these items, you are now in a position to hand the details of the installation over to All-Fill.
