ALL-FILL, INC. ACQUIRES VFFS LINE
On April 15th, 2011, All-Fill, Inc. acquired the manufacturing rights and assets of the vertical form fill and seal division of Taylor Products, V-Line, a division of Magnum Systems located in Overland Park, Kansas. This newly formed product line was integral for All-Fill because it allowed them to step into the world of flexible packaging, meaning handling bag material rather than just rigid packaging like containers, cups, jars, etc. Originally, All-Fill marketed the VFFS line as Avatar, a nod to the original company, Avatar Packaging Systems, founded by Brian Klughardt in 1993.
Brian Klughardt had over 35 years of experience with vertical form fill and seal machines at the time of acquisition, and as owner of Avatar Packaging Systems, All-Fill, Inc. was a good OEM partner. "When I originally got a call from Brian Klughardt, I was excited to know that they were looking for a buyer," said Glenn Edginton (All-Fill President/CEO in 2011). Edginton noted that "It was the perfect synergy between All-Fill and Avatar, we were looking to expand, and they were looking to sell or maybe even liquidate. Edginton added, "The deal was beneficial to both parties. In addition, there was already a good working relationship in place and Brian Klughardt was eager to relocate and help teach the All-Fill team everything about the vertical line."
Upon Brian Klughardt's relocation to Exton, PA he was immediately able to work with the sales, engineering, machine shop and assembly department to bring a vast understanding of vertical form fill seal machines in-house. It became evident quite quickly that All-Fill had a good offering on hand as we were now positioned to be the only manufacturer of both the auger filler and the vertical machine as an integrated solution, not via an OEM relationship. In addition, All-Fill was eager to supply in-house manufactured cup fillers and vibratory fillers along with other fillers such as combination scales and piston fillers. All-Fill debuted the product line at Pack Expo Las Vegas in the fall of 2011 to the surprise of many existing customers. Slowly but surely the word spread, and the product line was established over the next 10 years.
Brian Klughardt was really the key to the entire operation and without his relocation, the successful transition would not have been possible. "I welcomed the opportunity to bring VFFS packaging to All-Fill. I always thought, before the acquisition, that if there was ever a place, I would like to work that it would be All-Fill." To this day, All-Fill is going strong with the VFFS packaging line and has taken on the most challenging and unique applications. The real success has come through the number of repeat customers that we were able to garner by providing high quality machinery at a reasonable price with great service and support.
