Avatar VFFS (Vertical Form, Fill & Seal), a division of All-Fill’s Fine Family of Companies, is proud to document a successful machine installation specifically designed to form, fill and seal hot melt glue.

An industry leading manufacturer of adhesives and coatings faced a challenge to better serve its hot glue market by providing single, prepackaged portions of hot glue “pillows.” This type of adhesive is often used on packaging equipment to seal containers, apply labels and join components together. Supplying it in pre-packaged portions would simplify the refilling process by eliminating measuring, weighing, and resulting adhesive waste. Operators simply refill the glue reservoirs with the required number of packages. The Avatar A-1200 Vertical Form-Fill-Seal model was selected for its match to fill weights and production rate. Additionally, the A-1200 was capable of handling the 1 mm thick film required to melt and disperse in the glue chambers of packaging equipment.

Avatar’s ability to rely on superior employee knowledge and experience allowed for the simple integration of equipment from different manufacturers and OEM suppliers.  Avatar, as a standard; assembles, debugs, and tests all components before shipping. Auxiliary components to the Avatar A-1200 for this particular packaging line were a bucket conveyor to supply the individual glue “pillows” from processing equipment to the packaging equipment. 10-Position combination scale filler accumulates the glue pillows until a desired weight is attained. Weigh buckets of the scale filler dispense to the Avatar A-1200 for packaging. An inclined conveyor moves the filled packages to a rotary accumulating table to be later put in a carton downstream.  The combination scale filler is built upon a custom built mezzanine for stability, ease of access and safety.
